We started the group in mid December 2000. The co-founding fathers were/are from a well known and respected squadron. We just wanted to fly under some new names and get away from some of the politics that was happening.
We were a group of friends that liked to fly under other name to keep others guessing as to who we really were, all in the sprit of having fun. We even liked to fly against our own squad to give small shocks and encourage the continuing process of improving their flying/fighting skills.
Some of us have been in several squads some not, but all the pilots of the Iron Mules are top notched pilots that believe in a fair game without cheating or degrading our opponents.
We like to help others improve and often give out some advice, and share some of our flying secrets that makes us so difficult to beat.
The IMS starts up as a squad:
As of mid Feb. 2001 we have done away with the Iron_Mule#'s and taken the now squad call sign of "IMS_". We are now a squad and are flying as IMS members; we still have some pilots flying under the number system now and then for fun.
Our first match:
On May 17, 2001 we had our first squad match. We started of with the first squad that would accept our challenge. We took a 2-0 victory.
Our first FFF team tourney win:
Oct. 28th 2001 SpreadEagle, VanWatt & Moller started in the FFF team tourney.
Played the first two rounds and won without any losses against the 341th. and the FA's.
Blizard took over for Moller in the 3 round against the RS, another win and
now in the final playoff against the upsetting team the SOS. Beat the SOS to take home the trophy without any losses. Good job guys!
Our first WEC-CFS2 win:
March 30, 2002 we took the first place in the 4th round of the WEC-CFS2 tournament.
We would take this trophy another 3 times for a total of 4 times in a row.
